ADVANTAGES OF SMOKED OAK
Solid wood products made of smoked oak are particularly weather-resistant. The dark colouring of the smoked oak makes it less sensitive to sunlight, so that it still shines in brilliant dark colours even after 100 years. This makes it extremely robust against environmental influences. The attractive dark colouring of oak makes it a popular choice for smoking. The high tannin content causes the more intensive colour change. Depending on the duration of the smoking process, the colour of oak wood can change from light brown to very dark brown, while many other woods only become darker by a few nuances. Each piece of wood is therefore unique and reacts differently to the smoking process depending on its tannin content. Added to this is the sustainability factor of smoked oak. By using domestic woods, smoked oak has a good environmental balance. It therefore offers a real alternative to tropical wood, as smoked oak is just as visually appealing and just as resistant and durable. Scratches or other minor damage to the surface are not noticeable, as the colour underneath the first layer of wood is the same as that of the surface. Allergy sufferers also benefit from using smoked oak, as the wood is fungus and insect resistant due to the treatment.
